Meet Dr. Nicholson

The “pastor’s daughter” as one of her best friends calls her, Dr. Amanda Nicholson is a metro Atlanta native, who grew up on patent leather church shoes and Easter speeches. Dr. Nicholson graduated from the illustrious “University by the Sea” Savannah State University with a B.S. in Behavior Analysis. It was here in a “Sex Roles and Gender” course that she had the thought of being a Sex Therapist. After a talk with her mentor that confirmed that it was indeed a career, the rest was herstory!

Dr. Nicholson has always been interested in the role that religion plays in our sexual lives. One day in church while waiting to receive prayer she was asked to place a prayer cloth over her knees. This is when she decided to focus her work on Black Women of Faith and their sexual self-esteem. The sexual liberation of Black Women who have attended or currently attend church is something she believes will benefit us all.

When she is not doing therapy Dr. Nicholson is recording her podcast “The Sedated Therapist” with her best friend, analyzing couples on Married at First Sight, or reading a good novel.
